Prayer

In childhood's innocence, I knelt to pray,

With dreams and hopes, I'd wish for every day.

For years, my heart held wishes, pure and bright,

But when the moment came, they took their flight.

I prayed for stars to grace my darkest night,

But in the end, they vanished from my sight.

I asked for miracles, both big and small,

Yet when they should arrive, I saw them fall.

The years of longing, faith held close and tight,

Yet dreams eluded me, like birds in flight.

I wondered if my prayers had gone astray,

Or if they'd find their time, another day.

But in this journey, lessons I did glean,

That faith endures, though dreams may not be seen.

For life unfolds in ways we can't foresee,

And sometimes, what we need is not what's free.

So, though my prayers seemed unanswered, it's true,

In time, I found a different path to pursue.

For though I got nothing as I'd conceived,

I found in loss, a chance to be relieved.
